Name: TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film
Brand: GBAO

Question 1

What is the difference between "with carrier" and "W/O" grades?

Accepted Answer

Carrier grades (TPU-5101, 5120, 5135, 5150) are supplied on a release liner. The film is positioned on the substrate by heat, then the liner is peeled away — useful for automated cutting-and-place equipment and for complex multi-part assemblies. W/O grades (5080, 5106, 5098, 5068) are self-supporting and are applied directly without a liner.

Question 2

Which grade gives high elasticity?

Accepted Answer

TPU-5150 is our high-elasticity grade, used at 140–180 °C with a thickness range of 0.05–0.4 mm. It is intended for stretch fabrics where the bond has to move with the material. For maximum stretch recovery, pair it with the 130–160 °C grade TPU-5135.

Question 3

When should I use the white mesh grades instead of transparent film?

Accepted Answer

White mesh grades (TPU-5098, TPU-5068) are reinforced variants. The mesh structure raises shear and peel strength, which helps on stiff or heavy substrates where a plain film can creep under stress. Choose them when structural durability matters more than transparency.

Question 4

Can TPU film be bonded to TPU film?

Accepted Answer

Yes — TPU film is listed among our applicable adhesive materials, and mesh grades are commonly used as the interlayer when bonding film to film for thicker, reinforced assemblies.

Question 5

Why does TPU outperform EVA in washing?

Accepted Answer

It is the polymer backbone. EVA chains soften and partly dissolve when repeatedly wetted and heated, which weakens the bond line; the polyurethane network in TPU is far more hydrolytically stable, so the interface keeps its strength across wash cycles. This is the core reason TPU dominates garment and home textile bonding.
